About the Clinic
Who performs the treatments at NuBare?
All treatments are performed by Melanie, our lead clinician and qualified Medical Scientist (BSc) with over 9 years of specialist laser tattoo removal experience and 20+ years in pathology. This level of scientific training is rare in the tattoo removal industry — most clinics are operated by beauty therapists or technicians.
Where is NuBare Laser Clinic located?
We are based in Tweed Heads, NSW — right on the Queensland/NSW border. We serve clients from across the Gold Coast, Tweed Coast, Byron Bay, and Northern NSW. See our service areas.
What laser do you use?
We use the Quanta Q-Plus EVO — a professional Q-switched laser system engineered in Milan, Italy. It has three wavelengths to target all tattoo ink colours on all skin tones and is widely regarded as one of the most effective laser systems available for tattoo removal.
Do you have before and after photos?
Yes! You can view our before and after gallery on our Instagram page @nubare_tattooremoval. We have hundreds of real client results.
Treatments & Results
How does laser tattoo removal work?
The laser delivers concentrated pulses of light energy into the skin, targeting the tattoo ink beneath the surface. The energy breaks the ink into tiny fragments, which your immune system then flushes away naturally over the following weeks. Each session fades the tattoo further until it is fully removed.
How many sessions will I need?
Most tattoos require between 5 and 10 sessions, spaced 6–8 weeks apart. The exact number depends on factors including:
- Tattoo size and complexity
- Ink colours (black fades fastest; greens and yellows take longer)
- Ink density and depth
- Age of the tattoo
- Your skin type and immune system
During your free consultation, Melanie will assess your tattoo and give you a realistic, personalised estimate.
How long do I need to wait between sessions?
We recommend 6–8 weeks between sessions. This gives your immune system enough time to flush out the fragmented ink particles before your next treatment.
Can you remove all tattoo colours?
Yes. The Quanta Q-Plus EVO has three wavelengths specifically designed to target all common ink colours — including black, blue, red, orange, green, and teal. Even notoriously difficult colours like green and yellow can be effectively treated.
Can you remove a cover-up tattoo?
Yes, though cover-up tattoos are more complex as they contain multiple layers of ink. They typically require more sessions than standard tattoos. Melanie will assess your cover-up during your free consultation and provide an honest estimate.
Will my tattoo be completely removed?
In most cases, yes. The vast majority of our clients achieve complete removal. Some very old or dense tattoos may retain faint traces of ink, but significant fading is always achieved. Melanie will give you an honest expectation during your consultation.
Pain & Safety
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snapping on the skin — brief and manageable. Sessions are short, and we use cold air cooling throughout to minimise discomfort.
Will it leave a scar?
Not at NuBare. Scarring is caused by incorrect laser settings or undertrained operators. Melanie’s scientific training and clinical precision mean we have achieved thousands of scar-free results. You can verify this on our Instagram before-and-after gallery.
Is laser tattoo removal safe?
Yes, when performed by a qualified and experienced operator. At NuBare, every treatment is calibrated by a Medical Scientist with deep knowledge of skin physiology — making it as safe as possible for your skin type.
What happens to my skin after a session?
You can expect redness and mild swelling for 24–48 hours after treatment — this is completely normal. The area will settle quickly, and you will see gradual fading over the following weeks as your body clears the ink.
What are the aftercare instructions?
After your session you should:
- Keep the area clean and dry for 24 hours
- Avoid sun exposure on the treated area
- Do not pick or scratch the skin
- Apply a gentle moisturiser once the skin has settled
- Avoid swimming, saunas, and intense exercise for 48 hours
