Does Laser Tattoo Removal hurt?

At NuBare Laser Tattoo Removal Clinic, patient comfort is paramount. Even though pain tolerance varies dramatically from patient to patient we will endeavour to make your treatment as comfortable as possible.

Before, during and after all laser tattoo removal treatments at NuBare we blow cold air over the treated area using our Koolio Dermatological Air Cooling System which minimises thermal injury to the skin and therefore reduces swelling, bruising and blistering.

A topical anaesthetic that can be purchased from any pharmacy or through NuBare Laser Clinic may also be applied to help numb the area. This must be applied a minimum of 90mins prior to your laser treatment.

Some patients also find that taking Panadol 30-60 minutes prior to their treatment may help with pain tolerance.

If you can sit through the time it took to put your tattoo on, you can definitely sit through the laser removal as it is 100 times quicker!

How long will the consultation take?

Our no obligation, free initial consultation will take around 15 minutes but it may extend beyond this as we want our clients to feel comfortable and well educated without any time constraints.

The Laser Tattoo Removal process itself can take anywhere between 10 seconds to 45minutes depending on the size and the colours of your tattoo.

How much does Laser Tattoo Removal cost?

Our Laser Tattoo Removal starts at as little as $50 but the price will depend entirely on your tattoo. Smaller tattoos are easier to remove, while larger and more colourful tattoos may take a bit more time and energy. Either way, our staff will work out a price for you during your FREE initial consultation based on your individual tattoo.

There are often other discounts being offered so keep an eye out on social media to be the first to hear about our exciting specials.

Can you remove all colours completely?

At NuBare Laser Tattoo Removal Clinic we have the gold standard of laser tattoo removal technology. The Quanta Q-Plus EVO has proven clinical results for all treatable tattoo colours, including stubborn greens, blues and reds.

The Q-Plus EVO is the world’s only tattoo removal system to offer the THREE true wavelengths that are necessary to eliminate all colours and we are extremely proud of this.

How many sessions will be required?

The number of sessions you may need to remove your tattoo will depend on a large array of different factors. The age of the tattoo, colours of ink used, location on the body, your health, your skin tone and whether the tattoo was performed by a professional or an amateur artist are just some of the many factors that will affect the removal of your tattoo.

Most patients will need between 6 to 8 treatments, some will see complete removal in 3 or 4, and others may need 10 or more treatments.

If fading back your tattoo for a cover-up tattoo is what you are after, approximately 2 to 4 treatments will normally be enough depending on your cover-up design.

We will discuss your tattoo individually during your free initial consultation.

How long do I have to wait between treatments?

We recommend a minimum of 6-8 weeks between treatments but 12 weeks is even better!

Even if the tattoo is healing nicely from the previous treatment we need to allow a minimum of 6 weeks for the body’s immune system to do its job and start digesting the shattered ink particles from your previous treatment. Any sooner and you may run the risk of damaging or scarring your skin.

Will there be any scarring?

Given the technological and medical advances in Laser Tattoo Removal, permanent scarring is now rare and occurs in less than 2% of cases. If the laser is used correctly by a qualified technician and aftercare instructions are strictly followed the chance of scarring is extremely unlikely.

Our Q-Plus EVO laser delivers extremely short pulses of high power which interacts with the skin tissue photo-acoustically and therefore reduces thermal interaction with the surrounding tissue and drastically reduces the risk of damage to the skin.

If scarring does happen to appear during the removal process it is usually left over from when the tattoo was originally applied by the needle of the tattoo artist’s gun and only becomes evident once the tattoo is lifted.

During your free initial consultation, we will assess whether there may be any preexisting scarring from your tattoo or whether you may have a predisposition to scarring such as keloid scars.

It is also extremely important you follow your aftercare instructions carefully to reduce your risk of scarring.

Will there be any other side effects of Laser Tattoo Removal?

Frosting – Frosting of the skin is a natural part of Laser Tattoo Removal and is considered a positive sign. In a vast majority of cases, frosting only lasts for about 15-30 minutes after the treatment and will become less and less evident in future Laser Tattoo Removal treatments.

Swelling – You may see some redness and/or swelling for a few days after your Laser Tattoo Removal treatment but don’t worry, this is normal and will soon disappear. Rest, ice and elevation will help reduce swelling. Minimise exercise or strenuous activity for a week or so, drink lots of fluids and elevate the area above the heart where possible to help with circulation.

Blisters – Blisters may appear but this is also completely normal and nothing to be alarmed about. Blistering is a positive indication of the healing process and NOT an indication of a burn. These blisters are filled with water and shattered tattoo ink particles that are created by the body’s immune system when the laser shatters the ink particles. It is extremely important that you do not pick or break these blisters and leave them to heal naturally. Picking blisters or scabs may lead to scarring and infection.
